Burnaby Hospice Society is a charitable organization committed to providing dignified, compassionate support to hospice patients and residents who are grieving.
Join Our Community
As a non-profit organization, donations and fundraisers allow us to carry out our work providing compassionate care and support to individuals needing palliative, bereavement or educational support. Events also help us build our community of supporters.
From time to time, generous and caring individuals wish to host third-party activities or events to raise funds on behalf of Burnaby Hospice Society. These fundraisers are organized and executed by an individual or group outside of the hospice society and in whole or in part benefit our organization. Our Walking Group offers a gentle space to find comfort, share stories, and connect with fellow grievers and trained bereavement volunteers. Each week, the group meets for a 45-minute evening walk, followed by a stroll to a local coffee shop to relax, chat, and simply be in good company.
No experience with grief groups necessary — just come as you are.

Losing an adult child is a profound and difficult grief — one that can be difficult to put into words, and one that others may not always know how to hold space for.
This support group is offered for parents who have lost a child aged 18 or older. Facilitated by our clinical counsellor, it is a place where you are welcome to share your story openly, hear the stories of others, and offer and receive support from those who truly understand.
In a culture that often avoids talking about loss, we hope this group offers you a space where your grief is met with gentleness and without judgment. This group will continue for a total of 6 weeks.

Entering the first holiday season without your person can feel enormous, and there is no single manual for how to get through it.
This interactive workshop is designed with you in mind. You will have space to explore what this season might look like for you: how you're feeling, how to stay connected to your person, how to approach traditions, and how to take care of yourself. Most importantly, you'll be with others who understand — peers who are navigating this same season, without their person too.
There is no "should" here. You don't have to enjoy the festivities, and you don't have to tuck your grief away to be present for others. You may find that spending time with the people in your life brings comfort, even moments of joy, or you may not, and that's okay too. Whatever this season holds for you, Burnaby Hospice Society would like to walk through some of it with you.
